When decorating the store for the holiday season, I think of myself as an elf. A happy elf with a plethora of holiday products to share with you.
This past summer, when I became aware that holiday gift-buying would be a challenge due to glitches in product supply chains, I made a decision. The best way to fill Arrange with ample Holiday gifts would be to focus on local and US-based makers. This decision turned out to be a good one resulting in unique, hand-made gift options for everyone.
Listed below are a few of these vendors and fun details about them.
Katie and Nick founded their company JUNE & DECEMBER in 2014 in Michigan. If you are wondering why they named it June and December, these were the months their children were born. Katie and Nick make soft flour sack napkins and tea towels sure to remind you of a recent adventure, a memorable dinner, or a fond childhood memory. For me, they have been a dream to work with, delivering their beautiful flour sack products in time for this holiday. Peruse their creations here.
CARMEL VALLEY SOAP COMPANY was founded by Hilary Russell in 2018 in Carmel Valley. She is now a local in Bend with her husband and three cats. Her soaps are paraben-free, made in small batches, and all-natural. Stop by the store to experience these scents. They make smart holiday stocking stuffers and will definitely sell out quickly. We have included her soaps in two of our holiday pamper gift packages which can be purchased online here and in-store.
JACK BE NIMBLE CANDLES was founded in 2010 by Paul Bruschi in Atlanta, GA. They hand-pour each of their candles in batches of twelve and use only American-grown soy wax. These are some of my personal favorites. When I burn down one of their candles, I light another one almost immediately. The company offers accessible prices, ethical production, and meticulous craftsmanship. Choose from their winter scents here and here.
TERRAFIRMA CERAMICS is located in New York City and was founded by artist Ellen Evans. She creates her patterns by painting through textiles and lace using liquid porcelain to produce a distinctive “one of a kind” result. Her ceramics are made entirely by hand and kiln-fired to extremely high temperatures, giving each piece its own personality and great durability. I love this artist and her work not only because of her range of talent. Ellen also runs her company with high-quality standards. I’ve never experienced a problem with orders and shipping and that says a lot about a company. Click here to view the latest pieces delivered to the store.
HĪKISHÉMÉ NATURAL HYDRATION LOTIONS: Founder Kristine Ambrose is an artist living in Bend and part of the year in Los Angeles. In 2019 she created an apothecary in her photo studio and started brewing lotions, potions, and perfumes. As she became aware of the health benefits of herbs and natural scents, she began to share the products with others. Promoting good health became the why behind Hīkishémé. Positive memories are the inspiration. Purchase her lotions in-store and online here. This lotion is a must-have for those dry desert days and a favorite to apply for an extra boost of scent.
