Did you notice? My Instagram feed shows a lot of tables. Specifically, table tops, tablescape design, table glasses, tableware, table everything. I love table tops and with good reason. The dining room table is the center of my home. It holds space for games, puzzles, recipes, meals, conversations (easy and difficult), celebrations and sometimes rest. A true owner of the multi-task, the table has given me one of my passions and that is design.
The design of a table top begins with instinct. If my daughters are visiting and we have our breakfast on the patio, I may place white flowers on the table for an easy wake up visual for the day. If I am planning a picnic in Tumalo park with extended family, I will design the table with fun and color in mind. The table will be created with fresh fruit in a picnic basket, wicker plates, colorful liners, fresh cheeses and bread, farmers market flowers, and games.
Summer in Bend brings fresh flowers, herbs and friends to your home. I encourage you to grab a handful of herbs and place them on each plate around your table. Notice, as your guests take a seat, how they react to the sprigs of color. As you observe, take a deep breath and enjoy where the conversation takes your time together.
